2005 October, 2005: Vajrakilaya Empowerment & Teaching with Lama Gape September, 2005: Teachings & Retreat with Chagme Rinpoche
Chagme Rinpoche entered the shrine room and bound up to the altar so quickly, the sangha barely had time to get on their feet to bow in respect. He leaped onto the throne, standing atop it, before sitting down. Although he is 30 years old, he looks much younger. Despite that youthful appearance, when he looks at you – right at you – it’s with the intensity of a much older soul... more > July, 2005: Retreat with Garchen Rinpoche

In July Garchen Rinpoche came to Dayton for the third time.  This time the retreat was held in our new temple space on Creighton Avenue and offered people to experience his profound compassion which radiates to all beings. Here is a description of the retreat from Sean:  One of the most common things you will hear from our sangha members who attended this retreat, is, "There is no one that can really understand the effect (the retreat) had on me." After this retreat many of us could not describe to our friends, and family members what you experienced over those few days. Because you know what ever you say to them, will be like a small drop of water in an ocean of energy that you experienced, and won't justify the overwhelming experience. more > June, 2005: Gar Drolma center moves to Temple on Creighton Avenue
You know, it's funny (odd) how something like a building will bring people together. The was such a wonderful sense of camaraderie on Sunday, past. In fact, we had quite a crowd. A lot of new people, whom we welcome as the eventual future of Gar Drolma Choling. In the two years of the existence of Gar Drolma Choling we have gone from an original four (I think that's correct) to a whole temple full. Make no mistake about it, there is a lot of work to be done, both physically and Dharmically (Is that even a word?). As we were chanting the Refuge Prayer, I stopped to listen and the sound of these voices was almost overwhelming. Once more I stopped, during the Chenrizig mantra recitation, and it almost brought me to tears.  For those who have not made it to see our new center/temple, as yet, you must, and soon. For those who were not at Sunday's practice, you missed something very special. Congratulations to Ellen Marie for being recognized for all the hard work she puts in, not only for Gar Drolma but for the Garchen Institute and the Drikung Kaygu in general. Without her intensity, on the buying of this building, it wouldn't have happened. Also, Naomi, for the board, presented Ellen Marie with a beautiful Red Tara statue. I have a picture and will post it to the groups as soon as I can. Something else, which seemed to go only slightly noticed, was the visitation of a sparrow. In many faiths the vision of a sparrow is quite a great omen. It happened at the beginning of the Chenrezig mantra recitation, which was, I thought, particularly astounding. May the future of this center and sangha continue to be successful for the benefit of ALL beings. Ken
