Gar Drolma Buddhist Center is a Tibetan Buddhist temple located in Dayton Ohio. Gar Drolma Buddhist Center was founded in 2002 by His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, a high lama in the Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.
We offer many weekly programs which are intended to assist the spiritual development of expeienced practitioners as well as new students. In addition, we regularly host visiting teachers who represent an authentic and unbroken lineage of Buddhist training. |

MANTRA MARATHON DAY
SUNDAY, JANUARY 4 | noon-4pm
We have begun preparing the mantra rolls which will go inside the statue. With the guidance of Tsunma and Lama Gape we have realized that there is a lot of work to be done before Gar Rinpoche's arrival in February. This Saturday we will have an all day mantra marathon in which we will paint, cut and roll mantra. Please come for as much as little of the day as you care to. |
BOARD MEETING - SANGHA MEMBERS WELCOME

Our new Board of Directors is meeting frequently and working furiously to extend the blessings of Gar Drolma for sentient beings. All sangha members are welcome to join the Board for these meetings to participate, listen, observe, question and learn –about bringing the Dharma to our corner of Ohio. This week we will have updates from our working teams and an update on Tsunma's visa status. Please bring a bag lunch for the meeting. |
PROGRESS BEING MADE ON THE NEW SHRINE
Gar Drolma has hired Bushworks in Yellow Springs to build the new shrine for the center. The kind folks at Bushworks have been working overtime throughout the holiday season to get the shrine ready for our consecration in February. Check out photos of the progress here. |

LAMA GAPE HERE TO HELP WITH STATUE PREPARATION

The four thoughts comprise the foundation of the path of Tibetan Buddhism. A firm grasp of these concepts will provide the student with a philosophical basis for proceeding further on the path. This class will be taught by Lama Gape with Ina Bieler translating. It is not necessary to attend every class to participate.

When the Venerable Master Da-Syou decided it was time to leave, he chiselled a space out of the rock cliff next to where he lived and meditated and then fashioned some doors. He then sat down inside, arranged his body in full-lotus position, closed the doors, and entered the final stillness. Upon the doors he had inscribed this verse:
There is no great, no small, no inside nor out. Cultivate yourself, understand yourself, and make your own arrangements.

SHRINE DEVELOPMENT CAMPAIGN
The immeasureable generosity and loving kindness of our precious lama, H.E. Garchen Rinpoche, has manifested itself at Gar Drolma Buddhist Center in the form of a golden statue of Buddha Shakyamuni from Nepal. Now we are in the process of raising funds to build a new shrine according to Garchen RInpoche's vision.
